STAPLES - Brandon Wing's 13-yard run and 2-point conversion run lifted the Staples-Motley Cardinals past East Grand Forks 16-8 in a season-opening football game Thursday.
Wing, who rushed for 110 yards, also scored the Cardinals' other touchdown, a 73-yard pass from Devin Becker.
He also ran for another 2-point conversion and caught three passes for 82 yards.
Becker passed for 102 yards.
