PINE RIVER - Glen Abbott rushed for 126 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Pine River-Backus Tigers handled Cass Lake-Bena 32-12 Thursday to open the season.
The Tigers jumped out to a 24-0 lead punctuated by a 51-yard pass from quarterback Ben Kline to Brian Plantz.
Jordan Farmer scored the game's first touchdown on a 2-yard first quarter run.
