Brainerd Area Dental Assistants Society
Brainerd Area Dental Assistants Society will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Brainerd Public Library meeting room, 416 S. Fifth St., Brainerd. Program: Dental care for wheelchair patients and disabilities. Speakers: Joy Nordby, RN, and Julie Orr, RN, BSN, staff development coordinators, Good Samaritan Society. Cystic Fibrosis support group

For those families or individuals interested in starting a Cystic Fibrosis support group or to join together in fundraising efforts can contact Rosemary at 828-0211 or e-mail rschust97@msn.com.

Good Samaritan Society-Bethany to meet

Good Samaritan Society-Bethany, 804 Wright St., Brainerd, will have meetings Thursday in the Community Room. The Gift Shop meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. and the Auxiliary meeting will be at 10 a.m. with special guest Sara Dunlap, Director of Volunteer Services and Foundation, Brainerd Lakes Health.

Ray's Promenaders

Ray's Promenaders will square dance on Friday at the Franklin Art Center Cafeteria. Phil Miller will be calling Plus dancing at 7:30 p.m. and Mainstream dancing from 8-10 p.m. Pedersons will be hosting for ice cream night. Bring ice cream toppings.

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at 215 South Ninth St., Brainerd. Order from the menu. All funds go to support Elk programs.

WHS class of 1954

The Washington High School class of 1954 will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion. All interested in working on the committee to finalize plans for the 55th reunion to be held on Oct. 3 should attend.

Brainerd Area Shrine Club will meet 7 p.m. Monday at the Log Cabin in Brainerd. Board meeting at 6 p.m.

Health care reform vigil planned

A health care reform vigil is planned for 3:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gregory Park. MoveOn.org is hosting the event.

Potlatch Retirees

Potlatch Retirees will meet for lunch and cards at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd.

Brainerd class of 1979 reunion

NISSWA - The Brainerd class of 1979 reunion will be Oct. 16-17 at Grand View Lodge, Nisswa. For more information and to register, go to www.alumniclass.com/brainerd and sign up (no fee for basic membership) and click on the reunion page. Cost for the reunion events is $50 and can be paid on the Web site using PayPal or by mailing a check to: Brainerd Class of 1979, 6112 Lisa Lane, Brainerd, MN 56401.

Reunion events include karaoke and appetizer buffet in Northwoods Pub at Grand View Lodge at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 with a variety of activities throughout the afternoon of Oct. 17 with the main event starting at 5 p.m. that evening including a group picture, dinner, presentation and prizes, DJ and dance, and keg at the beach. Registration deadline is Sept. 15. Several classmates are still missing so pass this information on.

Memory loss seminar planned

A seminar entitled "Understanding and Managing Behavior of People with Memory Loss" will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Brainerd Public Library. The speaker is Joan Thralow, OTR/L, from the Memory Care Clinic in St. Cloud. There is no charge but attendees should bring their own bag lunch. Open to the general public. Certificates for CEUs are available. Contact Bridget at 692-1964 to RSVP or for questions about this event. This seminar is sponsored by the Lutheran Social Service Caregiver Support and Respite Program and the Memory Care Clinic with funding from the Central MN Council on Aging.

Senior dances planned

Senior dances will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by John and Virginia; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by John and Virginia.

Dad's Waffles to be served

Brainerd Lakes Veterans Center will be serving Dad's Waffles from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Brainerd Armory. Cost: $8.
