Incumbent Cross files BAXTER FILING Associate Editor Mark Cross was the only candidate to file Tuesday for Baxter City Council.
Appointed to the council in 1998 to replace Gary Muehlhausen when he was chosen as mayor, Cross won election to a full terms in 1998 and 2002.
He said he wanted to continue to concentrate on planning, building codes and landscaping ordinances.
"I think the biggest one (project) is the wastewater treatment plant," he said.
Requiring that developments of a certain size have water and sewer ranks as one of the council's best accomplishments, he said. That prevents the city having to go back and tear up streets to place the water utilities, he said.
Cross is a member of Aurora Lodge 100, the National Ski Patrol and the Sheriff's Volunteer Rescue Dive Team. He and his wife Nancy have three children.
