Traffic shifts planned for 371
The newly reconstructed northbound lanes of Highway 371 in Morrison County are set to open to traffic Thursday, weather permitting, the Baxter office of the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported.
The traffic shift is the first of three upcoming traffic shifts, as crews near completion of the new four-lane segment of Highway 371 between Highway 10 north of Little Falls and Morrison County Road 48 near Fort Ripley.
Paul Koenig, MnDOT project supervisor, said in a news release that southbound motorists will use the new southbound lanes to the temporary connection north of 223rd Street, which will shift traffic onto the existing roadway until paving operations on the new southbound lanes are complete to Morrison County Road 46. These paving operations are expected to take about one week to complete.
After Labor Day, weather permitting, the new southbound lanes will open to traffic to Morrison County Road 46, where traffic will be diverted onto the existing southbound lanes using the new interchange exit ramp.
Drivers will use existing southbound lanes to Morrison County Road 76, and traffic will be detoured via the exit ramp back to Highway 10. The detour is necessary as crews reconstruct new Morrison County Road 76. Southbound traffic will be detoured for about three weeks.
Weather permitting, the new four-lane segment of Highway 371 is expected to open to traffic in early October.
