Dorothy G. Plushow
Dorothy G. Plushow, Brainerd, 81, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Dorothy was born on Aug. 10, 1928, in Pine River to James and Gertie (Sata) Taylor. She married Rodney Fortune on Feb. 10, 1945, and together they had 11 children. She later married Robert Plushow on Dec. 20, 1969. She enjoyed embroidering, quilt making and was famous for baby quilts and she was an avid bird watcher. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children, Howard Fortune, Ginger Taylor, Renae (Bill) Bolduc Walker, Lila (Kevin) Lockwood, Rodney Jr. (Myrna) Fortune, Douglas (Sandy) Fortune, Diedra Fortune, Paul (life partner David Deree) Fortune, Tracy Schneider, Troy Fortune; 43 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; daughter, Doris Ellen; and her husband, Robert.
Services will be held for Dorothy on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor David Holte officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pequot Lakes. Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Lunch will provided after the graveside service at Kevin and Lila Lockwood's home.
