Lakeland Mold chosen as drive pacesetter
Lakeland Mold Co. of Brainerd will be the Crow Wing County United Way's pacesetter for the 2005 campaign this fall and the company will give away a kayak that it built to help with fund-raising.
Company officials announced their goal will be to raise $10,000, which would place Lakeland Mold as United Way Pillar Giver. Lakeland's 2004 contribution was $5,700. To help achieve its 2005 goal the company will match employee donations above $4,500 with a match of up to $2,000.
Lakeland Mold also has partnered with Liquid Logic Kayaks and Mold in Graphics Systems to donate a Lakeland Mold-built Liquid Logic kayak. The kayak will be displayed at the United Way's Chili Cook-off on Sept. 21 at the Westgate Mall.
For every pledge of $5 per week or each $250 one-time contribution any United Way contributor will have one chance at the kayak. Pledges and contributions must be made before the end of the business day on Dec. 30. The drawing will be Jan. 6.
Other activities Lakeland Mold Co. has planned for its employees include a community brat and pop feed, a derby car smash-up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at Lakeland Mold, bingo, chicken bingo, a potluck lunch, its own chili cook-off, doughnut Thursday, a build your own Sundae event and a collection of aluminum cans.
