The Brainerd Garden Club has selected the residence of Scott and Cheryl Johnson as the August Yard of the Month.

Brainerd's first telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association that raised $6,338 over Labor Day weekend was termed a success by Bob Loss, who headed up the promotional effort for the Moose Lodge.

40 years ago (1968)

Vincent Moe of the Dagget Brook 4-H Club earned a blue ribbon in the gardening exhibit portion of the Minnesota State Fair 4-H competition. Twenty-three other 4-H members of this area earned red ribbons.

Tonight is the big night at the fill as the VFW and Moose battle it out to determine the second-round championship of "A" league softball.
