6 arrested in Cass Lake shooting
Six people were arrested and four remain in custody following a shooting Saturday in Cass Lake that left two men hospitalized.

The shooting happened during an altercation about 3 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot at a town home in Cass Lake, the Cass County Sheriff's Department reported.

What led to the altercation and shooting is still being investigated, Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said.

The victims, brothers Michael Jones, 25, Cass Lake, and Thomas Jones, 26, Rosemount, were treated at a Cass Lake hospital and a Duluth hospital. Michael Jones suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand and left leg. Thomas Jones suffered a gunshot wound to his groin area. Information on their conditions was unavailable Tuesday.

Two suspects, Sheena M. Morrow, 25, and Wakinyan W. McArthur, 29, both of Cass Lake, were arrested as they attempted to flee the scene of the shooting, the sheriff's department reported. Both are being held in the Cass County jail pending formal charges.

After the sheriff's department gave a description of the shooter's vehicle to area law enforcement, a Leech Lake Tribal Police officer returning from a trip to Brainerd after transporting a person to a detox center located the suspect vehicle in Pine River, Fisher said.

Pine River police pursued the vehicle into Crow Wing County and four other suspects were arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday when stopped on Highway 371 near Pequot Lakes.

One of the suspects arrested near Pequot Lakes, Clarence J. Dickens, 49, St. Paul, is being held in the Cass County jail pending formal charges. A second, Anita J. Jordan-Williams, 46, Minneapolis, is being held on an arrest warrant from Carver County.

Two others in the vehicle, a 30-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, were released pending further investigation.

Assisting the Cass County Sheriff's Department were officers with the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Pike Bay Police Department and Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force.
