Absentee ballots for the Sept. 9, statewide primary election are now available. Absentee ballots for the Nov. 4 general election will be available no later than Oct. 3.
For military and overseas absentee ballot applications, the voter, the voter's spouse, parent, sibling or child over 18 may apply on the voter's behalf. The applicant may specify that the ballot be sent by e-mail, fax or regular mail.
If a voter is permanently disabled, the person may apply to have an absentee ballot application automatically mailed for all upcoming elections. Absentee ballots require a witness. A witness is any registered voter of Minnesota, a notary public or an election official such as a county auditor, city clerk, or designee, or any public official having authority to administer an oath.
The Cass County auditor-treasurer's office and absentee voting locations at Pillager City Hall, for Pillager and Sylvan, Fairview and May Townships; East Gull Lake City Hall and Lake Shore City Hall, will have extended hours for absentee voting for the statewide primary election from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and until 5 p.m. Monday. For the statewide general election Nov. 4, the same locations will have extended hours for absentee voting from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 1 and until 5 p.m. Nov. 3.
