Two years removed from serving, Mark Cross is making another run for a seat on the Baxter City Council.
Cross, 48, filed Thursday for one of two at-large council seats up for election Nov. 4.
"I think there are some important issues that I felt I could be helpful in dealing with," Cross said of his decision to seek a term on the city council. "The biggest thing now is to be able to provide quality city services without breaking the bank. In tough economic times, we have to be diligent."
Another important issue the city has to prepare for, Cross said, will be the expansion of the Brainerd wastewater treatment facility, for which Baxter is paying a third of the cost.
Appointed to the Baxter City Council in 1998, Cross won election to full terms later in 1998 and in 2002 before losing in his re-election bid in 2006.

Though he's been removed from the city council for two years, he hasn't been removed from city government as he's continued to serve on the city's architectural review committee.
Cross' filing for Baxter City Council means there will be at least a three-way race for the two at-large council seats. Filing earlier were incumbents Todd Holman and Gary Muehlhausen. Also filing earlier for re-election was Mayor Darrel Olson.
Filing for Baxter City Council seats closes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The filing fee is $2.
