The Brainerd Downtown Development Committee tentatively put the third leg of its development tripod in place Thursday. The committee agreed to continue planning for roofing two blocks of Laurel Street.

An old-fashioned threshing bee was staged in St. Mathias Township Monday and about 150 neighborhood folks turned out to see how it used to be done. The threshing machine was purchased new in 1933, by Ray Iten, 82.

The 13 champion salesmen chosen in Gambles Stores' nation-wide presidential cup contest are spending three days in the Brainerd area on invitation of George Schuler, manager of the local Gambles Store.
60 years ago (1948)
Crow Wing County 4-Hers excelled at the State Fair last weekend when they carried off four blue ribbons, seven red ribbons and three white ribbons in the demonstration division. The ribbons were earned by home economics, agriculture and activity demonstrators.
