HAYFIELD - Central Lakes College Raiders golf teams opened the season Wednesday by sweeping the Riverland Invite at the Oaks Golf Club.
The men's team won the title with 315 strokes, four fewer than runner-up Rochester. CLC's Chad Christian was second with a 75 and Drew Dufner tied for fourth with a 77.
"We shot pretty well as a team," Raiders coach Jim Russell said, "but we do have some work to do, which is good."
CLC's Tracy Gustafson was medalist in the women's meet with a 95. The Raiders had the only complete team at the meet.
"It was great to see a full squad," Russell said of CLC, which has its first complete women's team in two years. "It was nice to see Tracy take medalist. Now we have an idea of what things we need to work on and what things we can improve on."
Men's team scores: 1-Central Lakes 315, 2-Rochester 319, 3-Century 322
Medalist: Tony Marchio (Century) 74
