The Brainerd Jaycees will host an NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition Sept. 20.
The free competition is open to boys and girls ages 8-15 with age classification as of Dec. 31, 2008. The event will be held at Noon on the Forestview Middle School practice field in Baxter. The top finishers from each of eight age groups at the local competition will advance to a sectional competition also to be held in Brainerd. The winners at the sectional competition will have their scores compared with other sectional champions and the top five scorers from the pool of sectional champions advance to the NFL Team Championship, to be held just before opening kickoff at the Minnesota Vikings vs. Houston Texans regular season game Nov. 2 at the Metrodome.
Warrior JV boys win
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' soccer team defeated Fergus Falls 3-0 Monday.
Nick Oldham scored the first two goals and Tylor Bouchard scored the third. Bouchard added an assist as did Evan Werthman.
Matt Benson collected two saves in the first half and Thor Linnerooth finished with five saves in the second half.
Warrior JV girls tie
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity girls' soccer team tied with Fergus Falls 2-2 Monday
Brianna Olson and Melissa Boggs scored for Brainerd with assists from Natalie Taylor and Alisha Bouchard. Brooke Nelson finished with 10 saves.
Brainerd is 2-2-1.
