Bremer Bank team brings home gold GOLF LEAGUES
Bremer Bank capped off a remarkable second half by defeating its closest competitor, Halverson Law Office, 26-18 Sept. 3 to win the men's league title at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.
Bremer scored 236 second-half points to win the league by 21 points over Halverson Law. Edward Jones, which defeated Thelen Heating, finished third.

Legacy women
Joe Ellen Einerwold and Tricia Jasmer were double winners Sept. 1 during women's night at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.
Jasmer shot the low score (31) and used the least amount of putts (17) on the Par 3 Course.
Einerwold shot 42 for low round on the front nine of Bobby's Course. She and Debbie Briggs tied for low putts with 14.
Angela Sandelin had the longest putt on Bobby's and Dawn Buckwalter was closest to the pin.
On the Par 3, Jan Houle sank the longest putt and Jessica Gangl was closest to the pin.
The final women's league will be Sept. 15 and it will be a scramble.
Breezy Point women
Dee Wicks shot a net 32 and Verna Miller carded a gross 42 to win the 9-hole league tournament Sept. 3 at Breezy Point Resort's Whitebirch.
Bonnie Person's net 35 captured flight 1 with Darlene Palmer's 47 the low gross. In flight 2, Jan Benson shot 34 for low net and Martha Polsfuss was low gross with a 47. Sylvia Schmitt shot 39 for flight 3 low net while Joi Brandt was low gross.
Jill Roeder fired a net 36 and Linda Esser was low gross for flight 4. Doris Moede won the net and Linda Betker the gross winners for flight 5.
Brandt and Moede both had chip ins.
GVL results
Naomi Jobes, Shari Burns and Jean Morgan won the scramble event during the Sept. 1 women's outing at Grand View Lodge's Preserve Golf Course.
Laurel Mezner, Barb Elmquist and Marian Duffy finished second followed by Candace Prigge, RoseAnn Brown and Marilyn Sobiech in third.
Ann Powers had the longest putt, Joyce Sheplee sank a chip-in and Kari Dayton, Ellie Balsimo and Laurel Mezner carded birdies.
The last Outing, a Coed Outing, will be 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at Deacon's Lodge. To register call 963-8767 or 820-2607.
Whitefish women
The women of Whitefish Golf Club had a busy Sept. 2 as the 18-hole league held its regular play followed by the Whitefish Shootout.
In league play, Janice DuBois and Maxine Riches shot matching 35s to win the ones event for Flight A. Third went to Cheryl Bontrager followed by Barb Holubar in fourth.
Nancy Schmidt captured Flight B with her 34. Anne Gazda, Diane Giefer and Sandy Meyer tied for second with 36s.
Mary Boeder's 36 captured Flight C. Mary Ann Erickson shot 37 for second with Nancy Einan in third. Sharon Keister and Pat Radovich tied for fourth.
Riches shot 68 for low net.
DuBois, Dorie Kaleva, Joan Kantos, Myra Faust and Darlene Bonnema had birdies.
Following league play, 13 players who had qualified during the year competed in the nine-hole shootout, an elimination-style event where players with the highest net score on a hole saw their round end.
The last player standing was Mary Kay Kendall, who parred hole nine to eliminate Susan Walstrom and win the inaugural shootout.
Barb Holubar finished third followed by Nancy Schmidt in fourth and Sherrie Adam in fifth. Other players who qualified were Marguerite Baker, Shari Loechler, Myra Faust, Diane Giefer, Nancy Einan, Janice DuBois, Cheryle Bontrager and Ann Gazda.
Pine River women
Dorla Lind, Barb Knutson and Donna Balzer tied the team of Carol Lovro, Mary Jane Regan and Gloria Taylor for low team net during the Sept. 3 women's league at the Pine River Country Club.
Taylor had a chip-in with Lovro and Eileen Springer recording low putts.
The fall luncheon is Thursday at the Quilt Shop and Pantry in Pine River.
Holes-in-one
James Shafer, Blaine, aced the 159-yard, 17th hole at The Classic at Madden's Sept. 3 using an 8-iron.
Matthew Blurton, Bellaire, Texas, aced the 188-yard, 14th hole at The Classic at Madden's Sept. 2 using a 5-iron.
