A St. Cloud consultant told the Brainerd Downtown Development Committee that roofing a portion of Laurel Street is not the key to downtown Brainerd. He said that deteriorating downtowns need new entities to boost morale and attract other businesses.

30 years ago (1978)

Ken Wicklund, outgoing president of the Brainerd YMCA's Y's Men's Club, passed the gavel to the new president, Conrad Bye.

The Good Ol Days at A & W Corral are here again.

Sewers laid years ago are proving inadequate when it comes to removal of heavy rains. In the business sector of Brainerd a heavy rain is always sure to flood basements and will continue to do so until steps are taken to remedy conditions.

The entire north side of the Northern Pacific Shops has been ordered to work Sunday. The demand for cars to transport the heavy wheat crop is unprecedented.
