The Brainerd History Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kiwanis Park. Anyone interested in Brainerd history is welcome. Topics discussed will be the status of the newly found 1971 plaque installations and a history of the J.J. Howe Lumber Co. and the Brainerd Brewing Co., both located in the general Boom Lake area. Those attending will be locating the brewery bottling house foundation and discuss what might be done with it in the future.
Applicant to be interviewed
The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to interview an applicant for the vacant water planner/administrative assistant position. The board meeting will begin at the regular time of 9 a.m. in the Ag Service Center at 7118 Clearwater Road in Baxter.
Active aging week coming
CROSBY - The Hallett Community Center in Crosby is offering several free activities for the elderly the week of Sept. 22 to celebrate Active Aging Week, a national event promoted by the International Council on Active Aging.
Activities include: SilverSneakers classes-ongoing; Muscular Strength and Range of Movement at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; YogaStretch at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; Enhanced Fitness Class at 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Utilities commission to meet Tuesday
The Brainerd Public Utilities Commission will attend the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Citizen's Board meeting on Tuesday at the MPCA St. Paul office, 520 Lafayette Road. Brainerd's wastewater plant expansion permit will be discussed.
