Colt Gatzemeyer and Jordan Moll of Central Lakes College have been named the offensive and defensive players of the week ending Sept. 12 in the Southern Division of MCAC football.
Gatzemeyer, a sophomore from Sargeant Bluff, Iowa, was 11 of 19 passing for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders' 16-8 win over Mesabi. In three games he is 27 of 52 (51.9 percent) for 434 yards with two interceptions.
Moll, a freshman from Little Falls, had 11 tackles and one quarterback sack against Mesabi.
Haberman, Oles roll
PUYUALLUP, Wash. - Brainerd High School graduate John Haberman threw four touchdown passes to help St. Olaf to a 46-7 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday.
Haberman had three touchdown tosses in the first half, one to 2005 BHS graduate Jared Mueller.
Haberman finished 17-of-27 for 147 yards and an interception in two-plus quarters. Mueller finished with four catches for 31 yards.
St. Olaf plays at St. Thomas this Saturday.
Dean, Gammon-Deering performers of week
Jimmy Dean of Brainerd and Manon Gammon-Deering of Little Falls are the Central Lakes Conference performers of the week ending Sept. 12.
In boys' cross country, Dean has won the season's first two meets. At Bemidji he won by 21 seconds over the second runner.
In girls' cross country, Gammon-Deering was first at the Wadena-Deer Creek meet (15:49 4000 meters) and sixth at Milaca (11:16, 2,950).
JV boys win
Brainerd defeated Little Falls 3-0 in junior varsity boys' soccer Tuesday.
Brainerd keeper Matt Benson stopped three shots on net in the first half. Thor Linnerooth swatted away one shot in the second.
Ben Anderholm scored in the 35th minute on a penalty kick and Evan Werthman tallied in the 39th minute.
Lucas scored in the 48th minute assisted by Louis Grabowski.
