Brainerd Lions continuing scholarships for at-risk students
The Brainerd Lions Club is continuing its scholarship program at Central Lakes College for at-risk students who attend junior high school in Brainerd.
At-risk students are identified in their junior high years and informed that the prospects for a scholarship are available. The program was initiated in 1990 by Arnie Olsen, a Brainerd Lions Club member. Gary Isackson, another Lions Club member, spearheaded the project.
Each year, Lions officials said, about 22 students receive funding for tuition, fees and books.
