Baxter's tax rate expected to increase
BAXTER - Baxter on Tuesday approved a preliminary levy of $5,730,500, an increase of $216,800.

The estimated tax capacity rate increase expected from the preliminary levy increase would be 5.7 percent or two points, from 42.18 percent to 44.6 percent. However, the levy can be reduced at a later date and preliminary tax rates won't be determined until November.

Pequot student airliftesd to hospital

MEDICAL - A Pequot Lakes seventh-grade girl was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital Thursday after she reported not feeling well at lunch.

Pequot Lakes Superintendent Rick Linnell said the girl became ill at lunch and First Responders on the scene made the decision to airlift her to St. Cloud.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her and we hope things are going well," said Linnell. "It's kind of scary."
