The Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. Bear Migrations: Bears on the move in Minnesota and Beyond will be presented by Karen Noyce, MnDNR Wildlife Research Biologist, Grand Rapids.

NAMI Walks for the Mind of America
The National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold its third NAMI Walks on Sept. 26 at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis. The NAMI North Central Region will sponsor the "6-County Cloppers" team. A bus will be leaving from Brainerd at 8 a.m. with a stop in Little Falls. Bus will return at approximately 6 p.m. Sign up online or call Lori at 831-4248.
Nisswa Auxiliary bazaar
NISSWA - The annual Nisswa Auxiliary bazaar and bake sale will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 and will be part of the Nisswa Legion's Oktoberfest. The food and music will start at 11 a.m. The proceeds raised by the Auxiliary at this event go toward veterans programs.
Crow Wing County Genealogy Society to meet

Walleye fish fry benefit For Lee 'The General' Wilberg
REMER - On Oct. 10, friends and family will be gathering at the Pub in Remer for dinner, a silent auction and karaoke contest starting at 5 p.m. Wilberg was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in the fall of 2007 and has completed three rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Treatments have limited his ability to work and this benefit will offset medical expenses. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide matching funds. Woodland Wildflower Red Hat
The Woodland Wildflower Red Hat Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Poncho and Lefty's for lunch.
Pie social and silent auction
Good Samaritan Society-Bethany Auxiliary will host a pie social and silent auction from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Room. Join Bethany residents for homemade pie from The Barn for $3 each. This is a fundraiser for the Bethany Aquarium Lounge.

The WHS Class of 1957 will meet 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Northwind Grille.
VFW dinner
The VFW Friday dinner will be prime rib served from 5:30-7 p.m. or until gone. Cost: $10.
Toys for Kids auction
Heartland Detachment of the Marine Corps League will sponsor the 27th annual Toys for Kids program at Christmas. This local community service program is supported entirely by donations from individuals, organizations and businesses in our local communities.
To raise additional funds to meet an expected increase in the number of families in need of assistance this year, a public consignment auction will be held rain or shine at 11 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds in Brainerd. Public participation is needed to make this event a success.
Tax-deductible donations of new or good used items are requested. Larger, more expensive items such as cars, boats, trailers, etc. may be taken on consignment or reserve basis. Many items have already been donated including coin collections, rifles and shotguns, an ice fishing house on wheels, and a variety of tools and furniture. Items must be delivered to the fairgrounds on Oct. 2 or arrangements can be made for pick-up.

Brainerd Area Retired Educators
The Brainerd Area Retired Educators will meet for a noon luncheon Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 220 N. Eighth St., Brainerd. Use the east entrance. Speaker will be Sheriff Todd Dahl giving information for the safety of seniors.
The next meeting will be the third Monday in April. All retired teachers and administrators in the area are welcome to attend. Call 829-6900 for reservations.

There will be a roast pork lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Fourth and Laurel Streets in the east Crow Wing County parking lot across from the historic courthouse. Cost is $5. Proceeds will benefit the Crow Wing County DWI Court.
Crafters wanted

Pancake breakfast fundraiser
The Brainerd High School girls' swim team will have a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8-10 a.m. Sept. 26 at Applebee's, 15240 Dellwood Dr., Baxter. Cost: $5 per plate. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any BHS girl swimmer or diver or at the door Sept. 26.
DAR/SAR workshop planned
The Captain Robert Orr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution jointly with Sons of American Revolution will sponsor a workshop for prospective members from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library, 416 S. Fifth St., Brainerd.
Find out if your ancestor was a patriot of the Revolutionary War.
Members of DAR and SAR will be available to help interested women and men research their ancestors, to answer questions regarding the function of DAR and SAR and to assist prospective members with applications for membership.
It will be helpful if attendees bring any useful records or certificates about their families.

Benefit for Fred Hahnert
Brainerd resident Fred Hahnert was in a car accident on Aug. 10. He had surgery and is now going through physical therapy in Aitkin. Due to the ongoing medical needs for Hahnert, there will be a benefit dinner and silent auction from 3-8 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Brainerd American Legion. Cost is $6 per serving. Tickets are available at the Chap or by calling 851-7913. A fund has also been set up at Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union.
Hahnert is a lifetime member of the American Legion, a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Potlatch after 28 years.
WHS class of 1951 annual gathering
The Washington High School class of 1951 will meet for its annual gathering from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 28 at Ernie's on Gull Lake.
