Lucille Borkenhagen weighs 743 pounds, according to driver's license
Associate Editor The fight against obesity could be won overnight, some folks maintain, if we all weighed what our driver's licenses say we weigh. That wouldn't be good, however, for Lucille Borkenhagen of Baxter. Her Minnesota driver's license says she weighs 743 pounds.
One look at the petite, retired school teacher tells an observer that she's a far cry from ever being close to that weight. The mistaken weight listing, no doubt, was a typo that was never caught.
The error, discovered last week when a new license was mailed to her, is so egregious that she said she doesn't plan to complain to the state or ask for a new license.
"Anyone who weighed that much, how are they going to drive a car?" she asked.
She said if she were to get pulled over by police, the weight listing is so far-fetched that she doesn't expect it would be a problem.
Borkenhagen has lived in Baxter for about 10 years, moving here from Plymouth. In addition to raising her two sons, Chip of Baxter and Jeff of Hutchinson, she taught elementary school in Buffalo Lake, Sanborn and North Carolina.
She said she isn't asked to produce a driver's license for identification very often, and doubts if anyone would even pay attention to the weight listing. If they did, she said she doesn't expect it would cause her any trouble.
"It's so outrageous," she said.
