Crosslake council meeting planned Thursday
CROSSLAKE - A special Crosslake City Council meeting is planned at 1 p.m. Thursday at city hall.

The meeting is to review a recommendation from Widseth Smith Nolting on awarding the bid for the Crosslake Communications cold storage building, accept a donation for the city hall/ESC generator, review a letter to Crosslake Recycling regarding increasing the monthly payment for recycling at the drop-off site, review possible purchase and financing of a used fire pumper truck and approve bills for payment.

Needham still in critical condition

Lacey Marie Needham, the 18-year-old Fort Ripley girl struck by a vehicle Friday while she was in-line skating in northeast Brainerd, remained in critical condition Tuesday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Needham was struck about 9 p.m. at Washington Street and Gillis Avenue in northeast Brainerd by a vehicle driven by Gladys Anderson, 65, Brainerd. Anderson wasn't injured.

Brainerd Lakes Chamber announces dinner

The Brainerd Lakes Chamber invites members to "Ride the Wave" at the annual dinner on Oct. 7 with major sponsor Deerwood Bank. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a social and silent auction, followed by a beach buffet dinner and ending with the recognition program at Breezy Point Resort.

The chamber will celebrate its accomplishments and honor those who have assisted it in achieving its goals for the past year. Volunteers will be recognized during the program.

Utilities commission to meet Tuesday

The Brainerd Public Utilities Commission will meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the BPU Service Center, 8027 Highland Scenic Road.
