LOCAL BRIEFS Senate candidate Olson to host Oct. 5 women's forum
LAKE SHORE - DFL Senate District 4 candidate Mary Olson will host a forum on women's issues from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5 at Bar Harbor.
The panel will include a women legislators and the DFL candidate for state auditor, Rebecca Otto. Admission to the event is $25 and includes a buffet dinner.
Scheduled speakers are Sen. Mee Moua, DFL-St. Paul; Sen. Ann Rest, DFL-New Hope; Sen. Yvonne Prettner Solon, DFL-Duluth; Rep. Brita Sailer, DFL-Park Rapids; and Otto. Interested persons may call event organizer Martha Johnson at (218) 947-3656 for information or to make reservations.
Brainerd VFW activities set
The Brainerd VFW will have an all-you-can-eat bologna dinner from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $5 and includes bologna, baked beans, sauerkraut and dinner rolls.
Cathy's pork roast dinner will be served from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday night at the VFW. Cost is $7. Reservations appreciated by calling 829-6393.
