The time has come once more for those of us who live in the north country to enjoy the beauty of autumn color.
30 years ago (1976)
A $28,000 fund drive to establish both an 83-stall parking lot in downtown Brainerd, and infuse money into Brainerd Improvement, Inc. will begin on Tuesday.
40 years ago (1966)
Brainerd voters will again cast their ballots on the question of whether three mills should be levied to either subsidize or operate a bus line. The question will appear in the Nov. 8 ballot.
60 years ago (1946)
The Crow Wing County Historical Museum, closed during the war, will open its doors again early in October. The decision was to open the museum in the basement of the courthouse.
80 years ago (1926)
A corn stalk 9 feet, 7 inches in height, is not an unusual sight at the farm of Oscar Opgaard, two miles northwest of Brainerd. Some stalks as high as 14 feet. The stalks all bear good corn.
100 years ago (1906)
There is something of a mix-up in Cass County over the official count of the ballots and as a result C.E. Griffith has been declared the winner for auditor by one vote.
