Warriors' 10-game unbeaten streak ended by Alex
GIRLS' SOCCER
ALEXANDRIA - In a "good news, bad news" scenario, the Brainerd Warriors allowed the Alexandria Cardinals only three shots on goal Tuesday.

The bad news was two went in and the Cardinals walked away with a 2-0 upset of Brainerd, which had been unbeaten in Central Lakes Conference play.

The loss snapped a 10-game unbeaten streak for Brainerd and gave the Warriors their first conference loss of the season.

"We had some opportunities, but just failed to put the ball in the net," said Warriors coach Sara Rojas. "We played well and dominated the game, but I guess it was just one of those things."

Marissa Giekin scored for Alexandria at the 37-minute mark off an assist from Olivia Rice. Emily Funk scored unassisted at 24:55 on the Cardinals' only shot of the second half.

Brainerd keeper Cami Andersen had one save and the Warriors maintained a 10-3 shots on goal advantage.
