Dorothy Yund
BREEZY POINT - Dorothy Yund, age 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at home.

Dorothy was born in St. Paul to George and Margaret Lewis on Oct. 28, 1924. She married Bruce Yund in Minneapolis on Aug. 28, 1948.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her brother, Gordon Lewis (LaVerne); nephew, John; and nieces, Mary and Stephanie.

She taught sixth grade in Pequot Lakes for 23 years.

Developing a yen for the business world she had a yarn shop in Pequot, a real estate office in Breezy Point and wrote a weekly column for the Lake Country Echo .

Always very active in the communities of Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point, she served on the Breezy Point Planning Commission for 20 years, started the Breezy Point lending library and the "Community Fest " and was a member of the Breezy Point Women's Club.

Among the recognition that she received for her involvement were "Queen for a Day" at the Bean Hole Day celebration and "Citizen of the Year " on the Fourth of July parade in Pequot Lakes.

Services will be held at Crosslake Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. with internment following at Breezy Point Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake, Minn.
