A year of competition will culminate Friday and Saturday for Fort Ripley resident Terry Pickar as he competes in the Minnesota Rodeo Association Finals Rodeo at the Red Horse Ranch and Arena in Fergus Falls.
Rodeo performances will be at 6:30 p.m. both days and Pickar will compete in Bull Riding.
MRA members, such as the Melby family from Backus make rodeo a family sport. Going into the Finals, 10-year-old Cayla Melby is in first place for the best all-around cowgirl. Her dad, Ryan, is in second place for best all-around cowboy. Twelve-year-old Colton leads the breakaway roping competition. Mother Jane and daughter Cayla are sitting first and second in barrel racing.
Advance tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-15, and $10 and $6 at the door. Ticket prices include rodeo, free souvenir poster and admission to the dance following each performance.
The Red Horse Ranch and Arena (www.redhorserancharena.com) is the host facility for the Finals Rodeo. The ranch and arena are located six miles north of Fergus Falls on County Highway 10.
