Robert Jordon of Brainerd, helped a friend prepare for winter by hanging her storm windows on her house. Area residents have found this to be a common sight as recent temperatures have dipped well below freezing.

30 years ago (1978)

Yes, Brainerd, there is a bypass. It exists in the minds of local and state highway officials. Not only that, the wheels are in motion to make that bypass a reality by late 1985 or early 1986.

Temperatures plunged below freezing in this Brainerd area last night and this morning the first frost of the season appeared on foliage and gardens in the locality. From a maximum of 59 degrees yesterday the mercury dropped to 28 degrees during the night.
