Confidence Learning Center reports auction success
EAST GULL LAKE -Confidence Learning Center's annual outdoor auction was successful this year as hundreds of bidders purchased items ranging from household goods and furniture, cars, trucks, boats, watercraft, fish houses, tools and equipment, to a ride around Gull Lake in a 2005 Ferrari donated by Cooper Weeks, the center reported.
The auction was Sept. 20 with auctioneers Dave Schubert and Brad Frisk donating their time and auction equipment to the event with volunteers of Camp Confidence who assisted with registration, clerking and cashiering. The Brainerd Lakes Area Women of Today volunteers provided concessions.
Confidence Learning Center extends thanks to Kevin Lockwood, staff, volunteers and the community for the work, support and donations that made this event one of the most successful auctions in raising more than $20,000 this year.
In addition, the Classy Cruiser Car Club of Brainerd had a drawing for a 1979 Red Corvette on Sept. 13 during the BIR 40th anniversary celebration.
Lynn Peterson and members of the Classy Cruisers presented Confidence Learning Center with $12,470 from raffle proceeds to go toward camp programs.
Confidence Learning Center is a year-round education and recreation center for persons of all ages with developmental disabilities and receives no local, state or federal funds and relies on individual and corporate donations, as well as annual special events and fundraisers.
