PINE RIVER - Big plays made the difference as the Pine River-Backus football team played "its best game of the season," but came up short against Northern Plains Conference opponent Lake of the Woods 28-18, despite two Jacob Joy touchdown receptions.
Lake of the Woods had scoring plays of 46-, 48-, 23- and 68-yards on its way to victory.
PR-B's Ben Kline was 15-of-20 for 156 yards with his two TD tosses to Joy.
Glen Abbott rushed 29 times for 96 yards and also connected with quarterback Kline on a running back pass of 28 yards to start the scoring for PR-B.
