Sophomores top Apollo
LOCAL SHORTS
The Brainerd Warrior sophomore football team beat St. Cloud Apollo 20-0 Thursday.

The Warriors were led on offense by Matt Pohlkamp with touchdown rushes of 36 and 21 yards. Nick Welch contributed a 22-yard TD scamper. Mitch McLain added a 2-point conversion run.

Brainerd's defense limited Apollo to 61 total yards. Trevor Dukowitz and Cody Meyer had interceptions for the Warriors.

The Warriors (4-1) will host Alexandria at Adamson Field Thursday.

Freshmen nip Apollo

Brainerd edged St. Cloud Apollo 22-20 in freshmen football Thursday.

Brainerd scoring included a safety, recorded by Zach Sherpersky. Luke Boran threw a touchdown pass to Chris Bowman. Nate Blume and Tyler Fitch had TD runs.

The defense was led by Sherpersky and Jace Engelmann.

Fitch was named the Warriors' player of the game.

Earlier last week, the Warrior B squad defeated Sartell. Slade Simpson threw TD passes to Tyler Miller and Matt Sharockman. Cameron Beckman had two touchdown runs.

Miller was named the Warriors' player of the game.

Brainerd (4-1) plays at Alexandria Thursday.

JV soccer wins

The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' soccer team defeated Sartell Saturday 3-1.

Ben Anderholm scored two first half goals on assists from Lucas Conde and Evan Werthman. Conde scored in the second half on an assist from Josh Murrey.

Thor Linnerooth finished with four first-half saves and Matt Benson collected seven second-half saves.
