20 years ago (1988)

St. Francis School bikers and runners surge off the starting line this morning for the 16th annual marathon for non-public education at Brainerd International Raceway. A total of 200 pre-schoolers, students and adults ran and biked for pledges to support the school.

30 years ago (1978)

A new board of directors was elected by the Paul Bunyan Arboretum. The new officers are Jerome Peltier, president; Marion Trueblood, vice president; Robert Tiplady, treasurer and Anabel Lepinski, secretary.

40 years ago (1968)

Brainerd School District taxpayers will be paying $914,200 more to operate the school system during the 1968-69 school year than they did during the current year.

60 years ago (1948)

Northerly winds of 30 to 35 miles per hour and cloudy skies are predicted for the Brainerd area when duck season opens tomorrow noon.

80 years ago (1928)

The Brainerd High School football team went to Little Falls on the afternoon train today to play the high school team at that place. The boys won easily over Aitkin last week.
