The YMCA is holding its first Lazy Man Triathlon Challenge from Oct. 13 through Nov. 16.
The idea is to do an Ironman Triathlon in five weeks instead of one day. Participants will be challenged to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run/walk 26.2 miles.
Participants are encouraged to modify their workouts as needed. If you are unable to do certain parts of the triathlon you may substitute other things such as fitness classes, rowing machine, elliptical trainer, water aerobics, yoga, pilates etc.
Logging miles is done on an honor system. The basic rule is participants must complete the number of miles/activities they have committed to do in five weeks. Participants can do the challenge as an individual or form a team to challenge/motivate family and friends. Workouts may be done in or out of the YMCA.
Participants will track their workouts (miles) on personal logs as well as charts posted at the YMCA. Prize drawings will be held for participants who complete their goals.
The challenge is free. Call the YMCA 829-4767 to sign up.
