Foster, Landecker lead teams to titles at Mid-State meet CROSS COUNTRY
DETROIT LAKES - Staples-Motley's Naomi Landecker and Pequot Lakes' Clayton Foster paved the way in Thursday's Mid-State Conference cross country meet.
Foster captured the boys' individal title with a 17:01 to help the Patriots capture the conference crown. Jacob Headlee finished fourth followed by Silas Lydeen in fifth, Kellen Braren in ninth and Jonas Dale in 11th.
Landecker won the girls' individual title in 15:16 and paced the Cardinals to a 12-point victory over second-place Park Rapids. Emma Pogreba placed third for the Cardinals followed by Kaytlin Roth in seventh and Natasha Wenzel in eighth.
The top 10 runners earned all-conference honors.
The S-M boys finished second thanks to Jordan Bendson's second-place time of 17:26 and Gunner Johnson's third-place time of 17:37.
Christina Mapson's fourth-place time of 16:27 led the Crosby-Ironton girls' team to third. Wadena-Deer Creek placed fourth and was paced by Hannah Toedter's sixth-place finish.
Kylie Beltz placed fifth to lead Pequot Lakes to fifth.

Pierz boys win conference
KIMBALL - Eden Hanson placed sixth, Ben Welle seventh and Caleb Janson ninth to lead the Pierz Pioneers boys' cross country team to the Central Minnesota Conference title Thursday.
The Pierz girls placed second, six points behind Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball. The were led by Maria Hoheisel's fourth-place time of 16:35. Tracy Wimmer placed sixth and Sonya Theis was ninth.
Charlie Corbett finished 11th for the Pierz boys and Shane Gall was 14th as both Pierz teams placed five runners in the top 15.
