ART SHORTS Abstract art featured at CLC
"New Painting," an exhibit of abstract artwork by Lance Kiland, will be on display through Nov. 7 at the Central Lakes College Gallery on the Brainerd campus.
The Buffalo, Minn., artist has exhibited at the Minnesota Museum of Art in St. Paul, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Rochester Art Center, several galleries in New York City and the Art Institute of Chicago.
Kiland earned his Bachelor of Arts from Minnesota State University-Moorhead and his master's from Southern Illinois University. He teaches art and graphic design at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park.
Watercolor artist to give demonstration
Watercolor artist Calvin DeRuyter will give a demonstration from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd.
Admission is $5 for the public and free for Encore Arts Club members.
DeRuyter also will teach a watercolor class from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $15. To register, contact Pat Zolondek at (218) 746-3155.
The Encore Arts Club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month at the Senior Center in Brainerd. New artists are welcome. For more information, call (218) 746 3155.
