Raiders keep division title hopes alive with sweep
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
GRAND RAPIDS - Rachel Pfeffer tallied 40 set assists and 11 digs to lead Central Lakes College past Itasca 3-2 Saturday.
Erica Feldewerd added 14 kills and 17 digs for the Raiders, while Jenna Terhaar and Kaitlyn Roerick each slammed 10 kills.
"This weekend was big for us," CLC coach Jane Peterson said. "We picked up two big wins (the Raiders defeated Fond du Lac Friday) that put us in tie for first in the division with Hibbing. That is a pretty big accomplishment in that we started a little inconsistently and not really sure of ourselves in the beginning of the season.
"We blocked really, really well and have been serving aggressively and consistently and that is how you beat good teams. (The win) puts us in a good place going forward."
Krystle Hamilton picked up 24 digs for Central Lakes who improve to 10-3 in division play and 14-6 overall.
Both the Raiders and Hibbing have one division game remaining to determine the North Division regular season title as CLC faces off against Rainy River Tuesday.
Division: CLC 10-3. Overall: CLC 14-6. Next: Central Lakes vs. Rainy River at International Falls 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
