The Crow Wing County Board accepted, with appreciation, an offer from the Brainerd VFW to provide at no cost to the county a handicapped-accessible van to be used by the Veterans back and forth from the VA Hospital in the Twin Cities.
30 years ago (1976)
Employment in Brainerd during the month of September declined by 72 to 6,841, but remained 252 above this same period last year.
40 years ago (1966)
Elmer V. Peterson, a certified public accountant here for the past 34 years, is retiring. Peterson has lived in Brainerd since 1918. He graduated from high school here in 1927. He started his practice here Nov. 15, 1932.
60 years ago (1946)
Snow returned to Minnesota over night, although the Brainerd area escaped with a few scattered flakes. The prediction is for colder weather coming tonight with temperatures in the lower 20s and a hard freeze.
80 years ago (1926)
With three large conventions proceedings, three parades, concerts, programs, music, the first home football game of the season, Brainerd tomorrow is in for one of its greatest Saturday's in its history.
