Soldiers from the 851st Vertical Engineer Company and their families filled the recreation center at Camp Ripley Sunday morning for a Freedom Salute ceremony and homecoming tribute with special guest speaker Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Recognition went not only to the returning soldiers but also to the families that supported them from afar while they were away. The 161 soldiers were deployed for a year, returning in July.
