A fight Saturday at a cabin near North Long Lake led to one man being hospitalized with stab wounds and another man in jail for assault, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department reported.
The fight was reported about 4:30 p.m. on See Gull Road north of Baxter. Assisting sheriff's deputies were officers with the Nisswa Police Department.
One of the men, Herbert Amic Jr., 46, Duluth, had been stabbed several times during the confrontation and was transported by North Ambulance to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, where he was treated and later released.
Gregory Nelson
The suspect, Gregory James Nelson, 37, Brainerd, was arrested without incident at the cabin and is being held in the Crow Wing County jail for second-degree assault.
Formal charges against Nelson are pending with the Crow Wing County attorney's office. The sheriff's department said additional charges may be pursued against another suspect.
Chief Deputy Debi Backdahl said the two men were acquaintances but the events that led to the confrontation and stabbing were still under investigation Monday.
