Adviser nomination: Kirstie is a very talented student artist. She's a creative problem-solver who strives for quality in every project she pursues. She's also generous, responsible and readily volunteers to help other students do extra work or work on special community or school projects. Kirstie's an asset in any art class and a joy to be around.
Art activities: Painting and pottery. I've been in every art class but photography, which I will take next semester.
Project you're working on: I'm designing a T-shirt for Nordic skiing. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary. They want a more retro sports-like design. So I'm going to do a more '70s font and images and it'll have a ski outfit on it. I have to have it done by the end of this month.

What do you want to do in life: I want to be an illustrator for traditional art, like do CD covers and adult book covers. I really like reading and music so I could do everything I love in one job. I'm either going to go to Minneapolis College of Art and Design or the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul.

If you were a vegetable, which one would you be: Potatoes because they come in any form and have protein in them. I'd want to be them because they can do anything and they're good for you.
Parents: Karen Bird of Brainerd and Marshall Billman of Brainerd.
Honorable mention: Morgan Smith, junior, Brainonian: Smith's yearbook adviser said, Morgan is a returning member of the yearbook staff. She has a creative touch and a gentle, patient manner in working with our new staff. She often comes in during open hour to ask what yearbook tasks need attention.
