Norman Aune Sr.
Norman Aune Sr. age 94, of Brainerd, died Oct. 15, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Funeral services are on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Park United Methodist Church at noon with Pastor Rory Swenson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Park Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.









Norman A. Aune was born on June 30, 1915, son of Gerhard and Emma (Kleinschmidt) Aune in Larson, N.D. In 1935 Norm enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corp and moved to Minnesota. Norm married Irmadelle Warner on Nov. 12, 1942, in Little Falls. He served in the United States Army during World War II during the Battle of Antwerp and the Battle of the Bulge. He owned and operated Aune Electric for 47 years, was a member of Brainerd Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, Brainerd VFW and American Legion. Norm was an active member of Park United Methodist Church and the Bell Choir and he enjoyed his cats, Sambo and Snoopy.

Norm is survived by his children, Barbara Jean (Bert) Root, of Oakdale; Norman Jr., of Brainerd, and Kristopher, of Kentucky. Preceded in death by his wife, Irmadelle in 2004; daughter, Dorothy Morgan; daughter-in-law, Judy; parents; sister, Alice Peterson; and his brother, Ralph.
