Derrill Holland, Brainerd, received a Community Service Award from Phillips Petroleum Co. on behalf of the company for Holland's outstanding community services that bring credit to the individual or his organization.

The Buffalo Creek 4-H Club was named the Outstanding Club in Crow Wing County for the past year at the annual 4-H achievement night. Mrs. Ed Holm, Jr. and Les Sellnow were named honorary 4-H members.

More than 20,000 persons are expected to line the streets of Brainerd for the mile-long parade that will mark the opening of this city's homecoming celebration for Col. Ernest B. Miller and members of Co. A, 194th tank battalion.

The Brainerd Ice Company has torn down its ice house, one of the old land marks on west Laurel street and is building a new and more modern one on the banks of Rice Lake where the ice supply is harvested.
