LOCAL BRIEFS Clough named to Miss Dance Team Minnesota
Brainerd High School senior Ali Clough recently was selected as one of the top 20 at the Miss Dance Team Minnesota Competition at Eastview High School.
Clough was named to Team Minnesota, which is an All Star Team that will represent Minnesota at a national level competition in March in Los Angeles.
Clough was the only dancer selected outside of the Twin Cities metro area.
Planning commission to host workshop Nov. 1
The Brainerd Planning Commission will host a workshop session at 4 p.m. Nov. 1 at Brainerd City Hall.
The workshop is not a public hearing. It is anticipated that the planning commission will be formulating its recommendations for future land uses for the study area land in and adjacent to southeast Brainerd.
All residents of the area and the community are invited to attend the workshop session. However, public input is not planned as part of the workshop.

Police offer Halloween safety gear, candy
Brainerd police, Brainerd fire and local businesses are teaming up to make Halloween activities safer for Brainerd area children.
The Brainerd Police Department will host an event from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The first 1,500 kids will receive a glow-in-the-dark necklace, trick-or-treat bag and candy by stopping by the police station.
Donations are from merchants, including First Impression Printing, Lakes Area Law Enforcement Association, National Child Safety Council, Wal-Mart and Cub Foods.
