What specific qualities or experiences will make you a good choice for school board? "I believe that my experience of over 30 years as a school administrator (25 years as Brainerd High principal) and a public school teacher gives me a knowledge and perspective that makes me a viable candidate. I have a sincere passion for the Brainerd School System and will do all in my power to assure that the system provides the highest quality education for the students. I know the Brainerd area through my involvement in service clubs. I've provided leadership on various boards, volunteered in schools, president of the Brainerd Sports Boosters and a trustee at St. Andrew's Catholic Church."
The school district is considering options to address possible growth in the elementary school population. What options do you support? Should increasing class size be on the table? "I have some questions about the options ... But, if the five options are the only options and the questions I raise are answered, I'd support the Whittier option. It's a neighborhood school and it's set up to be an elementary school. In my view, the public was sold on the idea that Washington was too outdated to serve as a school when Forestview was built and I don't see that anything has changed. I dislike the idea of using satellite classrooms and of moving fourth-graders to Forestview."
