Other opinion: Corrections
TVs for sex offenders
We agree with Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Whoever ordered the 50-inch flat screen TVs for Minnesota's sex offender treatment facility in Moose Lake made a boneheaded move.

Why these sex offenders, who are deemed too dangerous to let back out into society after serving their prison terms, need 25 big-screen TVs at over $2,200 a pop is beyond us. Most of them have TVs in their cells, anyway.

Pawlenty is looking for the person who authorized the purchase, undoubtedly so he can deliver a severe public chastisement. We hope Pawlenty realizes that whoever it was is a member of his administration. It may be someone he appointed. Pawlenty will probably hang a sign saying "The Buck Stops Here" around the miscreant's neck, rather than put it on his desk, where it belongs.

Anyway, the question remains as to what to do with these TVs. Pawlenty could maybe sell them on eBay, but Sarah Palin already made campaign hay with that move.

Maybe Pawlenty could pass them around to needy school districts who could use them for instructional purposes, or raffle them off in fundraisers.
