Arlene S. Armstrong
BAXTER - Arlene S. Armstrong, age 84, of Baxter, passed away Oct. 26, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral service will be Thursday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter at 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Erickson officiating. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial is scheduled for Friday at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Arlene was born Dec. 3, 1924, to Chris and Lena Nielsen of Mankato, Minn. She was united in marriage to Dale C. Armstrong on May 8, 1941.
She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Gieseke, Faribault, Minn., Janet L. Smith, Farmington, Minn., Dale C. Jr. and wife, Bonnie, Brainerd, Minn., Susan G. and husband, Harold Nistler, St. Mathias, Minn., James H. Armstrong, Brainerd; sisters, Carol Jean Anderson and husband, George, Chicago, Marilyn Schiefelbine, Chicago; brothers, Charles and wife, Mary, New Jersey, Niels C. (Bud) Nielsen, Hawaii; plus 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale C. Armstrong; daughter, Patricia A. Genette, St. Cloud, Minn.; son-in-law, Dennis Genette, St. Cloud; granddaughter, Michele Fischer; and grandson, Michael T. Armstrong; as well as two sisters and three brothers.
She was a wonderful parent and grandparent, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, as well as a foster parent to many children.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
