PEQUOT LAKES - Matt Michaelson ran for three touchdowns and passed for a fourth, leading the No. 1-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots to an easy 55-0 win over the Roseau Rams in the quarterfinals of the Section 8-3A playoffs Tuesday.
The eighth-seeded Rams were never able to adjust to the Patriots' ground game as Pequot amassed 433 total yards, 383 on the ground, led by Michaelson's 21 carries for 231 yards.
Michaelson scored on runs of 34, 12 and 38 yards. A 12-yard scoring pass to Cole Engen was his only pass attempt of the game. He also kicked three extra points and ran for a 2-point conversion.
The remaining touchdowns for the Patriots came on 1-yard runs by Engen and Cody Chambers, a 25-yard romp by Logan Lang and a 64-yard interception return by Nick Greer.
