LOCAL BRIEFS Family seeks info on dog that bit daughter
A Nisswa couple is seeking information about a dog that bit their 11-year-old daughter Saturday afternoon at Harrison Elementary School in Brainerd. They believe the family that owns the dog lives near the school.
April Burnard said her daughter was bitten by a light-haired, cream-colored dog with a short tail and long ears. The dog was small and on a leash, accompanied by two young girls, before it got loose.
The family is attempting to find out if the dog is vaccinated so that a series of rabies shots for their daughter can be avoided.
Anyone with information about the incident may call April Burnard at (218) 838-8056 or Branden Burnard at (218) 839-8056.
Micropolitan planning work continues
Micropolitan planning work remains a collaborative effort coordinated by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber, Region Five Development Commission, and Cass and Crow Wing counties.
The mission is under way to obtain technical assistance to coordinate with partners, research and deliver "recommendations of best practices" to assist in the implementation of a well-formulated multi-jurisdictional plan in an effort to provide efficient delivery of services from the local units of government within the micropolitan area.
Region Five recently was awarded a grant of $50,000 from the Initiative Foundation and the USDA to obtain professional consultation to facilitate the outcomes of the goals that were established by the micropolitan planning efforts.
