HAUNTED BRIEFS
Dispatch to host Halloween open house
The Brainerd Dispatch will welcome trick-or-treaters from 3-5 p.m. Friday. The Dispatch is located at 506 James St.

Haunted house at fairgrounds

The Crow Wing County 4-H Ambassadors 11th annual haunted house for the food shelf will be from 6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. This year's theme is "Scream Cinema." Admission is $1 or a non-perishable food item with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army food shelf of Brainerd. The haunted house is scary and not recommended for children under 10. Games, candy and prizes for younger children will be in a separate building. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Funding for this event was provided by Youth as Resources of Brainerd. Other contributors were Walmart, Brainerd Lakes Sewer, Pepsi-Cola of Brainerd and Wadena and Lakes Area Law Enforcement.

Nisswa Legion Halloween party

NISSWA - The Nisswa American Legion's Halloween party will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. This year's free party will feature games with prizes, treats and activities for ages 12 and younger.

Halloween party at Prairie Bay

BAXTER - A Halloween party will be 7 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Bay, 15115 Edgewood Drive, Baxter. Cost is $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door, with $5 per ticket to benefit The Crossing Arts Alliance. Tickets are available at Prairie Bay or The Crossing Arts Alliance.

Trixie's tropical Halloween party

NISSWA - Trixie's tropical Halloween party will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa. There will be games, candy, hot dogs and popcorn.

Brainerd police, fire hosting Halloween activities

The Brainerd Police and Fire departments along with several associations and businesses will again team up to make Halloween activities safer for Brainerd area children.

The police department will host the annual Halloween event from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday. The first 1,200 children will receive a glow-in-the-dark necklace, a trick-or-treat bag and candy.

The event is sponsored by the Brainerd Police Department, the Brainerd Fire Department, Lakes Area Law Enforcement Association, National Child Safety Council, Brainerd Police Department Patrolman Association and First Impression Printing.

Haunted house in Staples

STAPLES - The Staples-Motley Wrestling and Cross Country Booster clubs will host a haunted house from 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The cost is $5.

Directions from Motley: Highway 10 west to County Road 83, turn left on County Road 83 (the road by the new Lakewood Health System hospital), go one mile to the T, then take a left onto Warner Road. Go one-half mile and it will be on the left. Watch for signs.

Trick or treating for Brainerd lakes food shelves

The youths of Open Door Church of Breezy Point will be trick-or-treating from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday to collect food for area food shelves. Anyone who participates will be treating local families to a meal this fall/winter.
